Overview
What it is, and when to use it.
Custom display boxes are POP (Point of Purchase) counter and shelf displays built from corrugated board. Unlike shipping cartons (which protect products in transit) or folding cartons (which hold individual products on the shelf), display boxes are the display itself — a printed corrugated structure that sits on a counter, shelf, or floor, holding multiple units of a product and acting as a billboard for the brand. Display boxes come in three formats: counter displays (sit on a checkout counter, hold 10–30 units), shelf displays (sit on a retail shelf, hold 6–24 units), and floor displays (stand on the floor, hold 50–200 units). They are built from B-flute or E-flute corrugated with litho-lam wrap for full-color CMYK or Pantone print. Display boxes are the format for product launches, seasonal promotions, and trade show retail — anywhere a brand needs to turn shelf space into a billboard. We manufacture display boxes from 100 units, with white samples in 5–7 business days and printed samples in 7–10 days. Every project runs on a dedicated line in our 18,000 m² FSC-certified facility in Foshan, China.

Buyer's decision framework
When to choose display boxes
Display construction is the right answer when the box itself is the retail display — a printed corrugated structure that turns shelf space into a billboard. The format earns its cost premium through increased retail sell-through and brand visibility at the moment of purchase.
- 1
Is the box the display itself (not just product packaging)?
Yes — display boxes are POP displays, not product packaging. If you need individual product packaging for the shelf, choose Folding Cartons. If you need a display that holds multiple units and acts as a billboard, choose Display Boxes.
- 2
What is the retail channel?
Counter (checkout, 10–30 units) for impulse-buy categories. Shelf (grocery, drug, 6–24 units) for standard retail. Floor (club, big-box, 50–200 units) for high-volume launches. Choose based on the channel and the units-per-display target.
- 3
Counter, shelf, or floor format?
Counter for checkout impulse (snacks, lip balm, gum). Shelf for grocery and drug (6–24 units on a standard shelf). Floor for club stores and big-box retail (50–200 units, free-standing). Each format has standard dielines — we can also build custom dielines for specific retailer requirements.
- 4
Litho-lam or flexo print?
Litho-lam for premium full-color print (the default for most displays). Flexo for high-volume floor displays (5,000+ units) where print quality is secondary. Litho-lam costs more but delivers the brand-billboard print quality that justifies the display investment.

Materials
Board & paper options
- ●B-flute (2.5–3.0mm)The standard display flute. Good crush resistance for counter and shelf displays holding 10–30 units. Takes litho-lam wrap for full-color print.
- ●E-flute (1.0–1.5mm)The thin flute for premium counter displays. Smooth print surface, ideal for litho-lam. Not for heavy loads — choose B-flute if the display holds more than 5 kg.
- ●BC-flute (5.0–6.0mm, double-wall)Double-wall construction for floor displays holding 50+ units. Two fluted layers plus three liners — the structural choice for free-standing floor displays.
- ●Litho-lam wrap (157 gsm art paper)The standard print surface for display boxes. A printed art paper sheet laminated to the corrugated board — full-color CMYK or Pantone on the display exterior.
- ●Coated SBS paperboard (for tray inserts)Used for the interior tray or product dividers inside the display. Coated SBS gives a premium white print surface for product-facing graphics.
- ●FSC-certified corrugated boardRequired if your brand makes a sustainability claim on-pack. We hold FSC license A000511 and supply chain-of-custody documentation.
Printing & finishes
How it gets dressed
Printing
- Litho-lamination (offset CMYK)Recommended for 1,000+ units and full-color photographic artwork on the display exterior. Lowest per-unit cost at volume for premium printed displays.
- Litho-lamination (digital)Recommended for 100–1,000 unit runs. No plate setup, fast turnaround, ideal for market tests and seasonal launches.
- Pantone spot colors (on litho-lam)Recommended for brand-critical color matches (logo reds, brand blues) where CMYK cannot reproduce a corporate color.
- Flexo print (direct)Recommended for high-volume floor displays (5,000+ units) where print quality is secondary. Lower cost but lower quality than litho-lam.
- Metallic inks (on litho-lam)Recommended for shimmer effects without foil-stamp cost. Subtler than foil, good for backgrounds and patterns on the display exterior.
- White ink on dark litho-lamRecommended for matte black, navy, or deep-colored displays where CMYK alone cannot print light text or logos.
Finishes
- Aqueous coating (eco, water-based)
- Matte or gloss lamination (on litho-lam)
- Foil stamping (on litho-lam)
- Spot UV on matte grounds (on litho-lam)
- Die-cut window with PET or cellulose film
- Euro-slot hang tab
- Crash-lock bottom (auto-erect)
- Tear-away strip (easy setup at retail)

Ordering & pricing
MOQ, lead time, and what drives the unit cost.
Every box is custom — there is no flat price list. Here is what you need to plan around, and what we will confirm in your tailored quote within 24 hours.
MOQ & sampling
MOQ is 100 units per SKU for counter and shelf displays, 100 units for floor displays. We can run smaller quantities as a sample or pilot program — ask us.
Lead time
Standard lead time is 10–15 business days after sample approval. Litho-lam printing and custom dielines add a few days. Air freight (5–7 days) and sea freight (28–35 days) are both available.
How to read pricing
Final pricing is confirmed in your tailored quote within 24 hours. We do not publish a flat price list because every display box is custom — but we will always show the unit cost at 100, 500, 1,000, and 5,000 units so you can see the volume curve before committing.
What affects the unit cost
Seven factors that move the quote.
Display format
Counter adds a meaningful per-unit cost at 1,000. Shelf adds a meaningful per-unit cost at 1,000. Floor is the most expensive option at 500. Floor displays cost more because they are larger and use BC-flute.
Flute type
E-flute for premium counter displays (smooth print). B-flute for standard counter and shelf. BC-flute for floor displays (heavy load).
Print method
Litho-lam (offset or digital) for premium full-color print — the default for most displays. Flexo for high-volume floor displays where print quality is secondary.
Finishes (litho-lam)
Aqueous coating included. Matte/gloss lamination adds a small per-unit cost. Foil adds a modest per-unit cost. Spot UV adds a small per-unit cost.
Construction
Crash-lock bottom (auto-erect) adds a small per-unit cost. Custom dielines add a one-time tooling cost amortized into per-unit. Tear-away strip for easy setup adds a minimal per-unit cost.
Windows & hang tabs
PET window adds a modest per-unit cost. Compostable cellulose window adds a modest per-unit cost. Euro-slot hang tab adds a minimal per-unit cost.
Volume
Per-unit cost drops sharply from 100 → 500 → 1,000 units, then gradually to 10,000. At 5,000+ units flexo-printed floor displays become the dominant cost choice.

Real project
A snack brand's launch display

- Client
- Snack brand (representative example)
- Challenge
- A snack brand needed a counter display for a 500-store retail launch that would hold 24 snack bars, print a full-color brand billboard, erect in under 60 seconds at the store, and keep per-unit cost within a strict per-unit budget at 1,000 units.
- Format chosen
- Counter display in B-flute with litho-lam wrap, 330×220×300mm. Full-color CMYK print on 157 gsm art paper. Aqueous coating for scuff resistance. Crash-lock bottom for 30-second erect. Die-cut window on front with PET film. Coated SBS interior tray with 24 cavities.
- Result
- The crash-lock bottom met the 60-second erect target at store level. The litho-lam print delivered the full-color brand billboard that drove sell-through. The format scaled from 500-store launch to 2,000-store expansion at a per-unit cost that met the brand's co-op budget target.
100 units.
Our standard MOQ for custom display boxes is 100 units per SKU. At 100 units we use digital litho-lam print. From 1,000 units, offset litho-lam becomes more economical. For flexo-printed floor displays, MOQ is 500 units.
Display boxes are the display itself (sit on counter/shelf/floor); shipping boxes protect products in transit.
Display boxes are POP (Point of Purchase) displays — printed corrugated structures that sit on a counter, shelf, or floor and act as both display and billboard for the brand. Shipping boxes are RSC cartons that protect products in transit — they are not designed to be displayed. Display boxes ship flat and erect at the retail store; shipping boxes ship sealed and are discarded at the fulfillment center.
Counter (10–30 units) for checkout impulse; shelf (6–24 units) for grocery/drug; floor (50–200 units) for club/big-box.
Counter displays sit on a checkout counter and hold 10–30 units — the format for impulse-buy categories (snacks, lip balm, gum). Shelf displays sit on a retail shelf and hold 6–24 units — the format for grocery and drug channels. Floor displays stand on the floor and hold 50–200 units — the format for club stores (Costco, Sam's) and big-box retail. Choose based on the retail channel and the number of units you want to display.
Displays ship flat and erect in 30 seconds to 5 minutes at the retail store.
Displays ship flat to save freight volume. A store associate erects the display at the shelf in 30 seconds (counter display) to 5 minutes (floor display). Most displays use crash-lock bottoms (auto-erect) or tuck-tab construction (no tools required). For floor displays, we include a single-page visual setup guide in English. Custom dielines can reduce setup time if your retailer has specific requirements.
Yes — 7–10 business days for a printed sample, 5–7 for a white sample.
We provide white samples (unprinted, exact construction) in 5–7 business days and printed samples (your artwork, finish, and color) in 7–10 business days. Sample fees are credited back against your production order. For display boxes, the white sample is critical — it confirms the structural dieline, the erect action, and the product fit, none of which can be evaluated from a render alone.
Flat — display boxes ship flat and erect at the retail store.
Display boxes ship flat to save freight volume (a flat-packed display takes 5–10× less freight volume than pre-assembled). The store associate erects the display at the shelf. Pre-assembled shipping is available for high-value retail programs where store labor is limited — expect 5–10× higher freight volume and cost.
Yes — corrugated is the most-recycled packaging material globally (90%+ recycling rate).
Corrugated board is curbside-recyclable in standard paper streams. After the promotion ends, the display breaks down flat for recycling. If you choose a litho-lam wrap with foil or lamination, recyclability is reduced — check with your local recycler. For brands making a sustainability claim, choose FSC-certified board, water-based ink, and skip foil. We supply chain-of-custody documentation for all FSC-certified projects.
10–15 business days after sample approval.
Standard production runs 10–15 business days after sample approval. Litho-lam printing and custom dielines add a few days versus standard RSC cartons. Air freight (5–7 days) is available for urgent launches; sea freight (28–35 days) is standard and most economical. Sample production runs in parallel with the first week of bulk production.
