Overview
What it is, and when to use it.
Custom shipping boxes are RSC (Regular Slotted Carton) format — the standard Amazon-style shipping carton with four flaps that meet at the top and bottom, sealed with tape. RSC is the default format for ecommerce fulfillment, 3PL shipping, and bulk logistics because it is the most material-efficient corrugated format (minimal board waste) and the fastest to erect and seal on a packing line. This page covers RSC shipping cartons specifically. If you need a tuck-front mailer (RETF), choose Mailer Boxes. If you need a printed retail-ready shipper, choose Corrugated Boxes (litho-lam). If you need POP counter or shelf displays, choose Display Boxes. We manufacture RSC shipping cartons from 500 units, with white samples in 5–7 business days and printed samples in 7–10 days. Every project runs on a dedicated line in our 18,000 m² FSC-certified facility in Foshan, China, with ECT and burst-test QC on every batch.
Best for
- Ecommerce fulfillment
- 3PL shipping
- Bulk logistics
- Wholesale & distribution
- Subscription boxes
- Heavy or multi-item orders
Buyer's decision framework
When to choose shipping boxes (RSC)
RSC shipping cartons are the right answer when the priority is material efficiency, packing-line speed, and per-unit cost — the workhorse format for ecommerce fulfillment. If the unboxing experience matters as much as shipping protection, choose Mailer Boxes (RETF) instead.
- 1
Is the priority fulfillment cost or unboxing experience?
Fulfillment cost — RSC is the right format. RSC is the most material-efficient corrugated format (minimal board waste) and the fastest to erect and seal on a packing line. If unboxing experience is equally important, choose Mailer Boxes (RETF, tuck-front, no tape) instead.
- 2
What is the product weight?
Under 8 kg — B-flute ECT 32 (the standard). 8–15 kg — C-flute ECT 40. 15+ kg or fragile — BC-flute 200# burst. When in doubt, choose B-flute — it is the industry default for ecommerce shipping.
- 3
Direct flexo print or litho-lam wrap?
Flexo for high-volume fulfillment (5,000+ units) where print quality is secondary. Litho-lam for premium printed shippers where the box carries brand photography or full-color artwork. No print (bare kraft) for the lowest cost.
- 4
Standard RSC or custom dieline?
Standard RSC for most ecommerce fulfillment — the format is proven and material-efficient. Custom dielines (telescope, half-slotted, full-overlap) for specific product shapes or retail-ready variants. Custom dielines add tooling cost but solve specific packing problems.

Materials
Board & paper options
- ●B-flute (2.5–3.0mm)The standard shipping flute. Good crush resistance, good print surface. The default choice for RSC shipping cartons under 8 kg.
- ●C-flute (3.5–4.0mm)Thicker flute for heavier items (8–15 kg). Higher crush resistance than B-flute but rougher print surface. Common for larger shipping cartons.
- ●BC-flute (5.0–6.0mm, double-wall)Double-wall construction for heavy-duty freight (15+ kg). Two fluted layers plus three liners. Used for heavy, fragile, or high-value items.
- ●ECT 32 (standard)The default edge crush test rating for standard ecommerce shipping. Sufficient for palletized shipping and warehouse storage at standard stacking heights.
- ●ECT 40 / 200# burstUpgraded ratings for heavy items, rough handling, or high-value freight. Higher cost but stronger protection. Specify when shipping fragile or heavy products.
- ●FSC-certified corrugated boardRequired if your brand makes a sustainability claim on-pack. We hold FSC license A000511 and supply chain-of-custody documentation.
Printing & finishes
How it gets dressed
Printing
- Flexo print (direct)Recommended for high-volume shipping cartons (5,000+ units). Lower print quality but significantly lower cost for logos, handling instructions, and single-color branding on bare kraft.
- Litho-laminationRecommended for premium printed shippers. A printed art paper sheet laminated to the corrugated board — full-color CMYK or Pantone on the shipping carton.
- Offset CMYK (on litho-lam)Recommended for 1,000+ units and full-color photographic artwork on litho-lam wrap.
- Digital print (on litho-lam)Recommended for 500–1,000 unit runs. No plate setup, fast turnaround.
- Pantone spot colors (on litho-lam)Recommended for brand-critical color matches (logo reds, brand blues) where CMYK cannot reproduce a corporate color.
- No print (bare kraft)Recommended for industrial shipping and cost-down fulfillment. Lowest cost option — the natural kraft liner is the finish.
Finishes
- Aqueous coating (eco, water-based)
- Matte or gloss lamination (on litho-lam)
- Foil stamping (on litho-lam)
- Spot UV on matte grounds (on litho-lam)
- Die-cut window with PET or cellulose film
- Crash-lock bottom (auto-erect)
- Tamper-evident seal
- Custom printed tape (matched branding)

Ordering & pricing
MOQ, lead time, and what drives the unit cost.
Every box is custom — there is no flat price list. Here is what you need to plan around, and what we will confirm in your tailored quote within 24 hours.
MOQ & sampling
MOQ is 500 units per SKU for RSC shipping cartons. We can run smaller quantities as a sample or pilot program — ask us.
Lead time
Standard lead time is 10–15 business days after sample approval — the fastest in our catalog. Flexo-printed cartons run faster (10–15 days). Litho-lam shippers run 10–15 days. Air freight (5–7 days) and sea freight (28–35 days) are both available.
How to read pricing
Final pricing is confirmed in your tailored quote within 24 hours. We do not publish a flat price list because every shipping carton is custom — but we will always show the unit cost at 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, and 50,000 units so you can see the volume curve before committing.
What affects the unit cost
Seven factors that move the quote.
Flute type
B-flute adds a modest per-unit cost at 5,000 (standard). C-flute adds a modest per-unit cost at 5,000 (heavier). BC-flute is the most expensive option at 5,000 (heavy-duty).
Board grade (ECT or burst)
32 ECT standard. 40 ECT adds 15–20%. 200# burst adds 20–30%. Higher grade = stronger protection but higher cost.
Print method
Flexo (direct) lowest cost, lower quality. Litho-lam (offset or digital on art paper wrap) higher cost, premium quality. No print (bare kraft) lowest cost.
Construction
Standard RSC no additional cost. Crash-lock bottom adds a small per-unit cost. Custom dielines add a one-time tooling cost amortized into per-unit.
Volume
Per-unit cost drops sharply from 500 → 1,000 → 5,000 units, then gradually to 50,000. At 10,000+ units RSC becomes the lowest-cost shipper in the catalog.
Freight (sea vs air)
Sea freight (28–35 days) is the economical choice for shipping cartons — they pack flat and fill containers efficiently. Air freight (5–7 days) for urgent launches.

Real project
A skincare brand's fulfillment program

- Client
- DTC skincare brand (representative example)
- Challenge
- A DTC skincare brand needed a fulfillment shipper for 3PL warehousing that would protect 4–8 product bottles per order, pass carrier drop tests, print a simple brand logo, and keep per-unit cost within a tight per-unit budget at 10,000 units.
- Format chosen
- RSC shipping carton in B-flute ECT 32, 330×220×120mm. Flexo single-color brand logo on two sides. Bare kraft interior. Standard tuck-top with packing tape. No window, no hang tab.
- Result
- The B-flute ECT 32 construction passed ISTA 3A drop tests for 4–8 bottle orders packed with kraft paper void fill. The flexo single-color logo delivered brand recognition without litho-lam cost. The format scaled from 5,000-unit launch to 10,000-unit steady state at a per-unit cost that met the brand's fulfillment budget target.
500 units.
Our standard MOQ for custom RSC shipping cartons is 500 units per SKU. At 500 units we use flexo print or litho-lam depending on artwork. For bare kraft (no print), MOQ is 500 units. For printed shippers, litho-lam MOQ is 500 units.
RSC has four flaps that meet and seal with tape; RETF has a tuck-front that closes without tape.
RSC (Regular Slotted Carton) is the standard Amazon-style shipping carton — four flaps that meet at the top and bottom, sealed with packing tape. RETF (Regular End Tuck Front) is the mailer format — a tuck-front closure that closes without tape, with a friction-fit or self-locking tuck. RSC is the material-efficient choice for fulfillment (faster to erect on a packing line, minimal board waste). RETF is the premium choice for DTC unboxing (no tape, cleaner presentation).
Shipping boxes are RSC (four flaps + tape) for fulfillment; mailer boxes are RETF (tuck-front, no tape) for DTC unboxing.

Mailer boxes (RETF) are the premium DTC format — tuck-front closure, no tape, cleaner unboxing presentation. Choose shipping boxes for cost-down fulfillment and multi-item orders; choose mailer boxes for premium DTC unboxing where the box itself is part of the brand experience.
B-flute for standard ecommerce (under 8 kg); C-flute for heavier items (8–15 kg); BC-flute for heavy freight (15+ kg).

Yes — 7–10 business days for a printed sample, 5–7 for a white sample.
We provide white samples (unprinted, exact construction) in 5–7 business days and printed samples (your artwork, finish, and color) in 7–10 business days. Sample fees are credited back against your production order. For RSC shipping cartons, the white sample also confirms the flute type, board grade, and ECT rating — critical for carrier shipping protection.
Yes — B-flute ECT 32 passes standard parcel carrier drop tests for items under 8 kg.
B-flute ECT 32 passes standard parcel carrier drop tests (UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL) for items under 8 kg when packed with appropriate void fill. For heavier items (8–15 kg), choose C-flute ECT 40. For fragile or high-value items, choose BC-flute 200# burst. We can provide ISTA 3A drop test documentation for an additional fee if your retailer or 3PL requires it.
Yes — corrugated is the most-recycled packaging material globally (90%+ recycling rate).
Corrugated board is curbside-recyclable in standard paper streams and is the most-recycled packaging material globally. If you choose a litho-lam wrap with foil or lamination, recyclability is reduced — check with your local recycler. For brands making a sustainability claim on-pack, choose FSC-certified board, water-based ink, and skip foil. We supply chain-of-custody documentation for all FSC-certified projects.
10–15 business days after sample approval.
Standard production runs 10–15 business days after sample approval — the fastest lead time in our catalog because RSC cartons are machine-converted with minimal hand labor. Flexo-printed cartons run faster (10–15 days). Litho-lam shippers run 10–15 days because the litho-lam wrap adds a pass. Air freight (5–7 days) and sea freight (28–35 days) are both available.
