Packaging Pricing Center

Understand custom packaging costs before you request a quote.

Real ex-works price ranges from our Foshan factory. Every box and bag is custom — there is no flat price list. Use this guide to understand what drives the cost and estimate your budget before you reach out.

Price Factors

Six factors that determine your packaging cost.

Every factor is independent — changing one does not affect the others. Understanding each helps you make informed trade-offs.

Material

The paperboard substrate is the foundation of cost. SBS paperboard (250–350 gsm) for folding cartons is the most affordable. Grey board (2.0mm) for rigid boxes adds structural weight and cost. Specialty papers (linen, metallic, leather-look) cost 30–60% more than standard art paper.

Size

Larger boxes use more material. A 200×150×70mm box costs 2–3x more than a 100×80×40mm box. Every 10mm increase in any dimension adds approximately 5–8% to the material cost. Standardizing dimensions across products reduces tooling costs.

Printing

Offset CMYK is the standard and most cost-effective at 500+ units. Pantone spot colors add $50–$100 per color for plate setup. Digital printing eliminates plate costs for 50–500 unit runs but has a higher per-unit cost. The number of colors and print coverage directly affect the price.

Finishing

Matte/gloss lamination is included in the base cost. Soft-touch lamination adds $0.15–$0.30/unit. Foil stamping adds $0.30–$0.80/unit. Embossing adds $0.20–$0.50/unit. Spot UV adds $0.10–$0.25/unit. Interior linings and foam inserts add $0.50–$3.00/unit.

Quantity

The single most impactful cost driver. At 50 units, rigid boxes cost $10–$18/unit. At 5,000 units, the same box costs $2–$5/unit. The cost per unit drops 40–60% from 500 to 5,000 units. The sweet spot for most brands is 1,000–3,000 units.

Shipping

Rigid boxes ship pre-assembled and take up 10–20x more space than flat folding cartons. Folding cartons ship flat and are the most economical. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping is available to 50+ countries — the price includes all freight, duties, and customs clearance.
