Unit cost drops from 100 to 1,000 units as setup and die-cutting costs amortize. Beyond 1,000, savings continue but flatten.
Box size
Larger boxes use more paperboard and fewer units fit per press sheet. A 320×100×100mm box costs roughly 2× a 100×40×40mm box.
Paper weight
300 gsm is the baseline. 350–400 gsm adds material cost. Specialty papers (pearlescent, metallic) add 20–50% to the paper cost.
Printing method
Digital print is economical at 100–300 units. Offset CMYK and Pantone spot become cheaper per unit from 500 units. Foil stamping adds a fixed setup cost.
Finishes
Soft-touch lamination, foil stamping, and spot UV each add a pass. A simple matte-laminated pillow box is the most cost-effective option.
